The history of Afrikaans journalism is an evolving story that unfolds vigorously in so many places and ways. This book – a first in Afrikaans – tells something about that by focusing on several important themes.

It is not a comprehensive history of mass media, but it does offer the interesting perspectives that break open the richness of Afrikaans journalism.

The book is aimed at young and old, at young journalists and those who have experienced a piece of this history as journalists or media users.

Ultimately, it tells the story of how Afrikaans journalism helped to create a language and a meaningful world of life.
